Amazing friends

Friends and true friendship ...

I have just been pondering how blessed we are by the friends we have. Amazing how they enriched your life in so many different ways. How they help you cope with the different aspects of life. Sometimes they show you that you are being a normal parent with a family just as normal.
This is an ode to all my friends especially my quilter sisters. You absolutely mean the world to me. When the time come to leave here and move on you will be dearly missed, all the chats, the drinking of gallons of tea and the quilting. My hope is that through this page I will still be able share part me and my life with all you out there. Thank you to all my friends, hope you know now how much I value your friendships.

The start of new things

Wednesday already...

Can you believe that time goes by so quickly. I find this page a challenge, especially for someone like me who never have lots to say.When you realise, that not having your own digital camera, can create a bit of a problem. That your hungry family have already wolfed down the food and that you actually still wanted to take a photo for posting the recipe. You suddenly realise that you have already completed your new quilt, but did not do a step by step tutorial. Oops! not such a great start to a page. Hopefully in the near future we will be able to tackle this the way I would like it to be. Needless to say that in the Burger household things can happen either very, very slow.... or extremely fast.

With that said I have decided to share a few of my decorative painting items. These have been painted two years ago for our Christmas market.  The designs  have come from various books and magazines.



This bear design came out of the decorative painting magazine. and turned out gorgeous.



This letter holder was painted with American paints. I find them brilliant to work with.

Global family

Another week gone by...

So glad that it is Friday again. Love being at home with my family doing my own thing. Be it cooking or reading etc. This global family thing is not very amusing, I miss my brother and sister and their two young ones. Melbourne is a tat to far for a quick visit.

Wonder how others feel having their family so far from them. Especially when you were a close knit family. Here in South Africa we see more and more of our elderly folk who stayed behind when their family went to find a new home in another country. Some stay behind not wanting to leave the know, friends and church, for the unknown. But what about the ones who would love to be with their children, but is just not viable, losing their income, medical fund and then not wanting to be a burden to their family. For me not being able to hug them or talk to them face to face when ever you want to, or to be able to hop in your car and be of assistance when they need help,that is the worst. But enough of that. This quilt (regrettable not a very good photo) went home with my Aunt Wien all the way to Kerikeri, New Zealand.

We called it "A Piece of the South African Sun" Or as we say in Afrikaans - 'n Stukkie van Sonnige Suid- Afrika. I enjoyed ever moment doing this. This pattern came from a craft magazine and was easy fun to do.

Thinking back on the week gone by...
The children enjoyed the chocolate cinnabons I have made. I found an old magazine recipe and gave it a try with my bread maker. There is a few things that need some adjusting before I can share it with you. But needless to say that it was very good.

The Mighty Creator of all things must have the best spot on my page. He is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega. Without His guidance we will be lost, He is our Protector, Father and Friend.

From Him we received all our special gifts, the gift of preaching, listening, loving and caring, as well as our creative gifts. How blessed we all are, we received so much: -
including our friends and family.

A blog name with a deeper and wider meaning. Bringing all that I love together into one. God is my all above all, my family, my friends and then my crafts, quilting, reading, cooking, restoring ....
